FabMo is something a friend of mine mentioned to me and while I haven’t had a chance to go yet it sound like a fun day trip for any crafter or sewer.
A quick 3-minute video: The FabMo Story
FabMo is a non-profit organization that saves mostly fabric but also tile, wood and leather scraps from ending up in dumpsters. The collect they scraps from all sorts of retailers and once a month open their warehouse to the public. People are highly encouraged to schedule an appointment (there is also a drop-in period) to come and browse the material and take anything that they can use, for FREE!
Location: 2423 Old Middlefield Way, Mountain View, 94043 (in same building and immediately behind Bajis’ Down the Street Cafe)
Crazy as it sounds FabMo has been doing this for over 10 years and it sound like a terrific way recycle and reuse. Check it out and tell me what you think.
Yours Truly,
Mel
Totally need to check this out! Next time I’m in Cali maybe I’ll get lucky and they will open their doors.
It was definitely fun and slightly overwhelming. There was so much stuff and I really I wanted to take home way more than I did. Next time you’re in town check their website for when they’re open: http://www.fabmo.org/fabmo/Calendar.html but it looks like it’s the 2nd weekend of every month (Friday – Sun).
BTW how are you?
Oh man. This sounds beyond dangerous. I can’t wait to check this out!! Think of all the pins I could make =p. maybe wristlets. Patchwork quilt….years and years of craft potential!!!
