Blog Spotlight: Joy the Baker

I love Joy the Baker and when I grow up I want to be just like her. She’s witty, down-to-earth  and her blog posts are informative but at the same time, truly enjoyable.

Not to mention all her recipes looks delicious.

Joy seems like someone I’d totally hang out with. Not that I’m jealous or anything but she’s even met, and baked with Ree Drummond, whom you probably know as The Pioneer Woman.

If you want you can watch the whole episode here; Bonkers Awesome! Joy the Baker and The Pioneer Woman Dish Up Cinnamon Roll Perfection.

Well done Joy, you’ve got a new fan for life.

Blog Spotlight: Can You Stay For Dinner?

Whenever you try to lose weight for whatever reason, it’s always a struggle.

A few months ago I decided that for myself and my own health I wanted to lose some weight but I knew I didn’t want to do it by dieting so instead I’ve implemented a “lifestyle change.” I won’t lie, it hasn’t been easy but really, anything worth having isn’t easy and it makes every pound I lose a small victory.

I’m trying to bake/cook with healthier alternatives but sometimes it’s really challenging. So on the days when I’m feeling bummed I read Andie‘s Blog, Can You Stay For Dinner? and I feel inspired. She puts a healthy spin to her recipes and doesn’t deprive herself of what she loves. Instead she eats everything in moderation and has made exercise a part of her daily routine.

Her story is incredible and it helps me to realize that I don’t have to give up what I love I just have to change the way I make things.

Have any of you, or do any of you struggle with your weight and want to share your story?

Yours Truly,

Mel

Blog Spotlight: Shugary Sweet

Not quite sure how I came to be on Shugary Sweets but let me tell you, if ever there as a reason to break a diet Aimee will give you one or several.

Her Blog is chock full of AMAZING looking creations and while I haven’t tried one yet I’ve got the perfect occasion for one of her treats this weekend. I’ll be going to an former co-worker’s Housewarming party and let’s face it who doesn’t love a little something sweet?

Yours Truly,

Mel

P.S. With lines like this is hard not to be addicted, “***NOTE*** Shugary Sweets is NOT responsible for weight gain or damage to your keyboard from excessive drooling!”

Brittany, Herself.

Brittany Gibbons is hilarious; like laugh out loud, milk out your nose funny and I could spend hours reading her posts.

Photo via Brittany, Herself.

She writes a Blog, Brittany, Herself and bills herself as, ” a wife, a mom a few times over, a humorist, an author, a blurter, an eater, a petter of strange dogs on the street, a drinker, an over-reactor, a jean hoarder, an over-sharer and a spiller of food down the front of her shirt.”

She’s a refreshing voice and a great advocate for body acceptance for women everyone. She’s also what I want to be when I grow up.

Enjoy.

Yours Truly,

Mel

BlogLovin’

I guess I never understood what an RSS Feed was. At dinner I was explaining to The Husband about BlogLovin’ and how it bookmarks all the blogs I read and then when I want to read them I just log-in and the latest posts are all there. I was going on and on about how I didn’t need to open a bazillion tabs and there was no need to remember all the names and he just looked at me like I grew two head, “That’s what they call an RSS Feed.”

Well, tomato tomatoe; I think BlogLovin’ is great. It’s easy to navigate and intuitive to use. Want a Tutorial? Check out THIS one by Katie at Hems for Her.

If you’re like me and can’t ever remember the name for your favorite crafting, cooking, baking, fashion, home, etc. blog then try this out. You can create a log-in using your Facebook information and if you hate it then you only wasted 5 minutes of your time but if you like it, then you’re welcome.

Yours Truly,

Mel

P.S. And there’s an App for your phone too!

Feathers & Freckles

I can’t rave enough about this blog, Feathers & Freckles. Megan’s post are quirky and entertaining and her outfits inspire me to be more creative. Plus she’s a fellow thrifting addict.

Mustard skirts, blue & orange, shirt-dress with a sweater; why haven’t I tried any of these?

She even makes a beanie look chic. Very Faye Dunaway/Bonnie and Clyde.

Yours Truly,

Mel

New Dress A Day Book

Marisa’s Blog, New Dress a Day was a one of the first blogs I followed because I absolutely love how creative and inspiring she is. If you too are a groupie you should consider getting her new book: New Dress a Day for a mere $13.60 on Amazon.

If you’re not a follower of her blog you can view a preview of her book, HERE but I’m pretty sure you’ll find her heartfelt, humor filled writing just as endearing as I did and still do.

Mel

Mercury Pumpkins

If you’re running out of great blogs to read/follow try Monika Wants It. I know, another blog but it seems like all the ones I like to follow are either: stopping their blog altogether or slowing way down.

Monika on the other hand posts regularly and has great pointers on decorating, DIY home projects and tasty looking recipes for those of us that aren’t Le Cordon Bleu chefs. She’s honest and funny and I find that I can spend hours scrolling through her posts, clicking on links and just overall enjoying myself. Which is exactly what a blog should do for you.

One of her latest posts on Fall Decor has me yearning for September when all the trees start to change and the weather finally begins to cool off.

Face Lift – Take 2

**Disclaimer: Web-Master I am not.

For those of who tried to access FoxAndAParasol.com yesterday and couldn’t because of a strange error message, I apologize. I was doing some website maintenance and accidentally broke the website.

To make a long story short the fix required yet another facelift and while I did love our cupcake theme, I’m pretty fond of our new look as well. I’ve also added a few new features so poke around and any comments are welcome.

Mel

Girl. Inspired. Blog

I forget how wonderfully full of great ideas the internet is, until I stumble upon something like Stef’s Blog, Girl.Inspired. I am inspired. Inspired to learn how to figure out my sewing machine. Inspired to craft and craft NOW. Inspired to take better pictures.

I wonder if her blog has the same effect on you?

Yours Truly,

Mel
